Bangkok's Best Rooftop Bars

RED SKY - CENTARA GRAND & BANGKOK CONVENTION CENTRE

Red Sky is a fancy rooftop bar and restaurant in Bangkok. While it doesn't offer striking riverside or treetop views that other rooftop bars enjoy, it has pretty impressive 360-degree panoramic vistas from its 55th floor, one of the most convenient locations in town.

If you visit Bangkok, chances are you will end up shopping in the Siam area, where the largest and most trendy shopping malls are located, such as the legendary Siam Paragon, MBK and the newly rebuilt CentralWorld. Red Sky bar is part of the Centara Grand Hotel, which itself is actually part of this gigantic CentralWorld shopping mall. So it seems to be a perfect combination: shop till your credit card drops, then recover from walking miles and miles with a dinner or a glass of chilled wine with unforgettable views from the rooftop above the shopping mall itself.

CRU ROOFTOP CHAMPAGNE BAR

Cru Rooftop Bar Bangkok is the highest and certainly one of the fanciest rooftop bars in Bangkok. It serves some exclusive labels of G.H. Mumm Champagne, a snack menu of world delicacies and offers its guests genuine 360 degree views of the city.

Located above Centara Grand at CentralWorld, Cru Bangkok takes pride of place on the 59th (and quite literally on the rooftop) of the hotel. It has a more intimate and sophisticated feel than Red Sky and Uno Mas below, with its own private lift and a chic, white-on-white design. There’s a large circular bar in the centre and a huge illuminated arch that changes colours throughout the night and gives photos some nice contrasts. Cru, from the French word meaning ‘wine of exceptional quality’, is a fitting name for this new addition to Centara Grand’s growing rooftop drinking and dining zone.

SKY BAR - LEBUA AT STATE TOWER

Made even more famous by hosting the Hangover II boys during filming in Bangkok, Sky Bar rooftop at Lebua State Tower offers one of the best views in the city. 63 floors up and overlooking the river, it has become a must-do for a sundowner cocktail. Around ten minutes’ walk from Saphan Taksin BTS it is very easy to find, just look up and walk towards the tall cream building with the gold dome on the roof. It may not be the most relaxed experience as people will flock here on a clear day and it gets crowded, but the vista is one you won’t forget in a hurry.

THREE SIXTY - MILLENNIUM HILTON BANGKOK

360 bar at Millennium Hilton is possibly one of the best rooftop bars in Bangkok but surprisingly one of the least talked about. 31 floors might not be as high as some famous buildings in the city, but what the Hilton lacks in stature, it more than makes up with a view that surpasses almost all other rooftops. The bar consists of two distinct areas: One is a large rectangular open air space covering the entire middle part of this tall riverside building, and the other part, as the name suggests, is an amazing 360 degrees cupola balanced one floor above. It really looks like a gigantic flying saucer has landed on the edge of the Millennium Hilton tower and the views from this indoor panoramic bar are fantastic.

Millennium Hilton is laid back yet feels sophisticated and the easiest way to enjoy the early evening is to first sit at one of the comfortable sofas on the open rooftop and contemplate the views on each side of the tower... It's a great feeling to relax above a frantic city while enjoying some great wines and soft music, getting a childish satisfaction in being on top of the world.
